Plaque
buildup can cause a person’s arteries to become clogged. Making a few lifestyle
changes can help in preventing plaque accumulation thus improving the heart
health. Medical procedures or surgery can help to remove blockages from within
the arteries in serious cases. Healthcare providers may also prescribe
medication, such as aspirin, or cholesterol-reducing drugs, such as statins.
Heart
disease can lead to the occurrence of a cardiac arrest or heart attack. It is

waste from the cells in the body which can stick to the walls of the arteries,
making these blood vessels narrower. When this happens, it is called
atherosclerosis. People

invasive medical treatments are also available to clear the arteries. But,
there cannot be any better treatment than prevention with some prevention tips
being:
1. Avoid Trans Fats- Foods high in trans fats include fried foods, processed packaged foods,
cakes, pies, and pastries, cookies and biscuits, margarine or butter
substitutes, products
with partially hydrogenated oils, otherwise known as trans fats and so forth. Saturated
fats may also affect heart health which are mostly found in animal products, such as beef,
pork, and dairy, but also in coconut oil and palm oil.
2. Consume More Unsaturated Fats- Unsaturated fats are mainly found in plants and fatty fish
including avocado, olives, walnuts, some vegetable oils including sunflower and
olive and fatty fish,
including trout, herring, and salmon.
3. People looking towards lowering their
LDL cholesterol should eat a diet rich in whole fruits and vegetables, fish,
poultry, whole grains, low-fat dairy and nuts.
4. Drink teas, such as green or black
tea, rooibos tea, or ginger tea, they can prove to be good heart-healthy
substitutes for other beverages.
5. One should perform some form of
regular exercise on a daily basis because obesity is a risk factor for plaque buildup and heart
disease. It is only physical exercise that can help in maintaining proper
weight. A few of the cardio activities that can increase heart rate include
jogging, cycling, brisk walking, running, doing aerobics, swimming, etc.
Risk factors of clogged arteries:
1. high blood pressure
2. smoking
3. unhealthy cholesterol levels
4. insulin resistance and diabetes
5. obesity
6. lack of physical activity
7. an unhealthful diet
Quit smoking
and reduce stress- other effective ways to prevent clogged arteries. Stress-reduction techniques,
including yoga, meditation, or breathing exercises. A doctor may also recommend
medical treatment in this regard.
Clogged
arteries can lead to heart disease, peripheral artery disease and angina.
